Wallpaper: Tron Legacy

Still making TRON Legacy fan-art and loving it.

Though this could be a Tron Legacy 2 fan-art...something for the obvious sequel. So this is designed on some of the assumptions I had. Is CLU really gone for good? GRID is finally done with? What if both isn't gone and what if they make a comeback, opening a portal into our world a

s with CLU's obvious intentions (To make our imperfect world...PERFECT!)?

What if the dark forces (more like the orange programs) of the GRID starts taking over our world?

The design solely represents that. The Blue rings with the white glow represents the surviving good programs who lives in harmony with the meager amount of ISOs, represented in white. And yes, TRON aka Rinzler evidently turns out good at the end of LEGACY and obviously will return in the sequel as a savior so his logo in blue is also included, though still having shades of orange (evil) on it. And CLU's forces starts taking over them...slowly..Think of it as a loading bar of a game...though its 'Not Anymore' :P, starting from left CLU's forces are gradually dominating to the right..to our world..

Will Sam & Quorra and Allen be able to save us before it reaches 'end of line'? Yes my imagination's going wild..I Know..but these plot points could be effectively realized paving way to another great sequel.

Iv sketched n scribbled in like 5 pages and still I cudnt come up with as minimal design as possible...as well as justify minimalism.

The Circle wasnt there before... But I improvised for good or bad...thats for u to decide... I have even not bothered to use a vignette so as to keep it as minimal as possible! :D

Tron Legacy: A Heritage to Behold

Saw TRON LEGACY yesterday and the experience was awesome...especially the 3D. I am totally satiated with TRON. Having re-watched TRON (1982) the night before really did wonders to the ‘Tron Legacy Experience’ albeit a lot of doubts regarding the depth of the plot remained unanswered in Legacy. Though I suggest the prospective viewers the same...Watch TRON before TRON Legacy.

The original Tron itself was a marvel of its time. The CG in the movie, even to imagine, then was something to gape at. I was amazed at the level of depth it achieved in terms of 3D. Tron, in all its glory, deserved to be the cult classic it is now. And the storyline was also far-fetched at the time and (in similar fashion) I’d say that The Matrix can’t deny that they had more of an idea than an inspiration of ‘The One’ from Tron.

Being 28 years apart...really showed! Tron Legacy is Eye-Candy at its best and the best use of 3D ever since Avatar...maybe even more than Avatar. The neon glows, the light streaks of the Light Cycles and one uber-cool vehicle (I am itching to spoil it for u but I am feeling sympathetic!), the de-rezzing everything looked supercool in 3D. Tron Legacy is meant to be seen in 3D! PERIOD.

The Plot moves forward with an irresponsible-punk of a Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), Son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), pissed off at his father’s departure creates havoc in his own company…Encom. Until Sam was told by Allen (Kevin’s friend and more), that he got a pager messaged which was sent from his father at Flynn’s Arcade. Sam goes to check this out and goes digitized (the same way as his dad), into the GRID although by a different threat this time. The rest I'd let to watch. There's isn't much 'backdrop' I can say as everything is explained in the dialogues. Garrett, seemed plastic and grumpy in the previews, wasn't so in the movie and gave a good performance. Jeff Bridges is still the star of Tron Legacy...being both C.L.U (Figure who he is yourselves) and Kevin. Michael Sheen & James Frain also shines in their own roles. Olivia Wilde as Quorra was over-the-top...sure, she'd be added to all the eye-candy that Legacy provides and will be remembered by geek-herd for long. I, myself never thought programs would look that sexy.

Self note: Olivia Wilde (as Quorra) is uber-HOTT!

Tron Legacy has THE most awesome action sequences of this winter. LightCycle battles, LightDisc Wars and the finale sequence that'd make you drool...that'd blow you away. I have ever since been drooling at LightCycle pics over the net and wallpapers. Tron Legacy has great emotional sequences as well...as its more of a father-son story amongst all the the 'Technologic' stuff.

Daft Punk really did a great job in creating the Tron Legacy score. I was a bit skeptical at seeing their names on the Tron Legacy OST...but upon hearing it...its one of the best scores ever. Even an homage to the original Tron theme was incorporated in the score. I can’t pick out a specific track fav from the OST…but I’d say…‘Tron Legacy’, ‘Flynn Lives’, ‘Arena’, ‘The Game has Changed’, ‘C.L.U’…. And who wouldn’t love ‘Derezzed’?

Believe me you will never repent watching Tron Legacy in 3D. Even if you didn’t get to watch the original Tron, I’d suggest you to take the risk and go watch Legacy coz you’ll be surprised how much you’ll end up liking it….at the least, for all the visual orgasm and its great use of 3D.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Wallpaper

Been playing Assassin's Creed Series for a while. Even when I started with AC1 I was impressed by the Anvil engine and its graphical prowess. Never had I seen such visuals in a game before (Exception: Crysis)...though what impression I had on its graphics I lost in its gameplay...which was a bit tedious and that Jerusalem bug pissed me off ever more. Nonetheless AC stood out from the games released back then.
Then came Assassin's Creed 2 and man that game rocked... Frist of all there was a gr8 story to boot and gameplay rocked twice. The scope of AC2 universe is vast. Ezio is cool, witty and dangerous but I still prefer Altair's silence, stealth and serenity.
I thought Assassin's Creed Brotherhood would fall! Though it didn't and its being hailed as the best AC game ever. gotta play it when it releases on the PC...hopefully this Jan. So here's another fan wallpaper for AC fans and not alike. Its widescreen 1920x1080. Download and feel free to share and use.

Never Should have been Cancelled!

Now And Again was one of those awesome Cancel-Syndrome affected TV Shows which got cancelled after the first season. The reason was stated by CBS Channel as 'unjustifiable expense of the program'. This was one of the shows I enjoyed in the evenings on televisions...when I used to be just a kid who enjoyed nothing more than Friends and The Simpsons. Now And Again had an excellent cast and the chemistry between the characters were awesome and touching. After the season finale I never knew that CBS had cancelled the show and i thought AXN had just stopped broadcasting it entirely.

I had been tranced by the theme song of Now And Again...over and over again there's not a place in the vast Internet I hadnt searched for the song 'Gimme a Sign' Performed by Ariel Ryder & Narada Michael W...though all I got was snippets of the original songs..not the full version. Been searching for it ever since when I stumbled upon this video on Youtube which had this song as the BG Music..I ripped it off the video and enhanced it to create this mp3 for fellow fans of the show as well as the music.

I have always been obsessed with Cel-shaded graphics. The first time I played XIII, the time I saw Scanner Darkly and recently playing Borderlands...the novelty never faded.

ThinkCaps (always wanted one) also amused me when I was a kid...I remember reading a comic strip of a little kid who used his thinkcap to escape outta sticky situations. Dont remember what the comic strip was called though.
This logo is a tribute to both the ThinkCap & the cel-shaded world.

The 'Caret' as it seems has different meaning and usage though the most common one is used in proof reading. Inserting some words/text in between two other words/text is what Caret is used for.

This time for Apple Ipod. As the tagline says "its not Apple anymore". OrangeFolds replaces the Apple iTunes and the makes some firmware changes for the iPods and makes it much more than a mere iPod adding more features, and being alot user friendly.

LOST is the second of my Typography and I hope to do alot more.
Done, with inspirations from LOST (series) oozing from last night, and an accidental design concept from a recent design tip acquired from vipindhanurdharan.
This was unexpected, unbelievably done in minutes and for me it looked inexplicably good...leaving me with an unquenchable thirst to design more!
This LOST piece could be considered a fan art piece for LOST Series coz I have been seeing a lot ot recently. OR it could just be visual...as the subtitle suggests...'LO' & 'ST' is LOST in between the fine line that defines REAL & UNREAL. Choose what you may.... :D

I Love GOTHAM

I know I have been over-using Gotham font alot.
Browse through my Gallery and you'll know yourself.
But what can I do?
I LOVE GOTHAM!

It all started with INCEPTION. I started noticing how beautiful the Gotham font was...then I went over to seeing it all over the net. Somehow Gotham was considered the new Helvetica. I saw the font extensively used, mostly on movie posters of Gran Torino, Invictus, Hereafter (all the 3 movies are directed by Clint Eastwood and the posters designed by The Cimarron Group. Ever since that I have been in love with the font. Somehow it made the design look cool just adding the font.

Many people still live in the Helvetica era and I havnt seen much people using Gotham...either coz they dont like it better than Helvetica or maybe its paid and rare to find
The Color pun is intended deliberately! (Guess what the PUN is?)

Vulcan Salute: A Star Trek Minimalistic Wallpaper

I always had been a Star Wars fanboy. Though that was until I saw J J Abrams' Star Trek and wow I was blown away. The movie was extremely good and 2 weekends back and I bought the DVD and saw it again and went through the extras and stuff and I thought I gotta do something as a tribute to Spock Prime.
I still am more affined to Star Wars than Star Trek but its never a rule not to love both movie series simultaneously. Both series has its own ups and downs...(Hayden Christensen being Darth Vader and making Vader as a Pussy...being the worst).

True Blood Minimalistic Wallpaper

When I first heard of True Blood, I thought it was just milking dry the vamp craze that Twilight had started...So I thought it'd be just another vamp-romance-chick-flick. Though when I finally started seeing it a few months back, I was dumbstruck at how the story and direction made the series so engrossing and immersive.

True Blood is the perfect mixture of thrills, chills and penultimate fantasy any guy could wish for.
Although True Blood minimalistic posters and wallpapers are abundant...this is my contribution for one of the top rated series of this time.

Monochrome Ninja

'Monochrome Ninja' is the by-product of a long-brooded concept.
This is just a doodle of that idea...tried to make it as simple as possible and for a work of under 20 minutes I suppose it looks good. Done in Photoshop CS4...I wanted it to look vectorish thus the plain bamboo designs and sharp edges.
By the way the color scheme is obviously inspired from LIMBO. So no hatemails...LIMBO fanboys!
I might do a full fledged digital 'Monochrome Ninja' sometime soon...and I have a pretty good idea of how to revamp MC.

MildBreeze Logo

So once again I've started churning up Logos.

MinBreeze started out, as, always a sketch. It was one fine morning and I had nothing to do here at office. IDK why...Office is such a good place to think and churn stuff up...Creative/Destructive and maybe even Perverted :P.

So I just thought about breeze flowing through the windows and thought about how I could represent it visually and minimally. Couldnt figure out a way so I just started on another logo design and then things started goin the breezy thing again and within 10 mins or so MildBreeze logo was ready! WHOA! And it looked good for such a short time of 10mins. Fiddled with it more and tweaked some nice colors. Added the typo with Gotham Black (Yes, again, Toldya I am in love with that font, he he).

The Triplet Logo: A Bastard Child!

Triplet Logo Design is a Bastard! It came outta nowhere (when I was attending a boring office meeting) and I sketched it and just kept on revamping it. It came out as a simple Bar Design when I sketched it and I decided to add some 3D feel to it when I revamping it. The Colors, apparently, represents RGB...So it could be a logo for a Studio or Multimedia Service Agency. I deliberately made the GREEN bar bigger than the others coz GREEN is what drives most of us. :P
The name was the difficult part. I went on trying RGB, TRIO and stuff concerned with THREE and Colors and BARS. None, I felt, suited the design...Finally I got the name 'TRIPLET' and a suitable tagline to go with 'Good things always comes in Three'... Get it? (horny!) :P
Font used is GOTHAM BLACK.... As I am so love with it after seeing the Inception posters!

The Tadpole Logo another "bastard child" from the same meeting. The sketch was so much cuter than the logo...Or so I suppose! But the over all logo design turned out just the way I visualised it to be. Even the Violet shades! The 'toys' was later added though. I felt it too be too cute and wanted kids to adore this little tadpole...usually I felt they are gross! :D

DeathNote has been in the Design phase for sometime now.
I mean I sketched it a month back...when I was going thru that disturbed phase (On 2nd thot...wen wasnt I ever distrubed? LOL). So it had remained a sketched since then....ie until today morning. When I suddenly opend Photoshop and started working on the sketch....and within like 4 hours...VOILA.... Mr. Boone is writing his Deathnote in Digital!
I know with 4 hours...It still doesnt look polished...like 'Abducted Wire'. Or Maybe its just me! See the original sketch here

Aah yes Coffee...what could be more refreshing than a cup?
Warm to hold the cup and when u place yours lips on the rim of the cup the warmth just flows into u...making u feel all rejuvenated...
Was just feeling bored and was completely sitting 'jobless' at office and it hit me...I didn't do much personal work last 2 months. Oy vey! So I started working on this. I know I had a great concept in mind....But I guess this is kinda faulty execution. Completely done in Photoshop CS4 in under 2 hours!

Inception: Random Muses

INCEPTION, will soon become a cult classic and sooner than you think. Its similar to the likes of The Matrix. Yes, Inception vastly reminded me of The Matrix...though I am not comparing both. Upon watching Inception, I found the same old craving that the Matrix induced in me....to watch it over and over again. I had been seeing a lot of recent movies and I was sad that none of it stuck in my mind...it was like, the moment I finished seeing those movies...I forgot about them. But I fear, now that I have already seen Inception, I'll be obsessed with it for years to come the same way I was obsessed about The Matrix.

Christopher Nolan's a proven director with his talents in intellectual movies such as Memento, The Prestige and already proven his skills at revamping the Superhero genre with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Though this time he breaks all moulds of doubt that he's one of the best filmmakers of this century. I thought how the hell he came up with this kind of story.

Nolan has always been ambiguous in his movies... Memento, Batman Begins, The Prestige...all had its fair share of ambiguity in it. As such Inception also has it...I was actually confused for a second or so though I happily embraced that ambiguity.

Yes, Nolan made the movie complex and unlike Matrix which had a cosmetic layer of action sequences, VFX and CG to mask the brilliantly intellectual content that is within, Inception was pure science and fiction and less VFX/action sequences so some people was obviously bored...add to that the long duration of 150 minutes people who already wasn’t in sync with story had nothing to sit through it and was left alone to assume and ponder what was it all about, throughout the 150 minutes. I am not telling that the VFX and CG wasn’t good...It was simple and elegant and didn’t go over the top and exaggerated...it was the right pinch of salt for a fine broth.

The day before I went to see the movie I had an argument with one of my friends and asked him to see the previews and synopsis from the website and he refused to. I told him he'd be gaping at the visuals wondering how or what the hell happened if he didn’t pay attention to the movie. I ended up telling him the synopsis myself. I myself admit that I have a lot of doubts to clear up and I know I am going to watch this movie over and over again...so that the clouds and assumptions clear up.

Most of the dream stuff explained in the movie was actually things that some of us had already thought about. I, for one had always been asking my friends if they ever experienced the 'The Kick' way back in 2005...or that 'if only we could record or experience each others' dreams. Everything is explained in this movie and Nolan made a splendid job...in portraying those visually. The real stunner was the syncing ‘The Kick’ between '3 Dream within Dreams'...and WHOA IT BLEW MY MIND! That kind of perfection can only be attained by Nolan.

The Cast was perfect for this movie...though Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Arthur), Tom Hardy (Eames) & Ellen Paige (Ariadne) stands out. Leonardo (Dom Cobb) played an amazing persona and like many others I felt the same that he continued his role from the Shutter Island. Although Marion Cottillard had a few minutes of scene-space, she, all though perfect for Inception, stood out as 'disturbing' throughout and gave a chill down my spine every time I saw her. Somehow she reminded me of Samara (The Ring) or Alma (F.E.A.R)...idk why! Ken Watanabe also got his fair share of screen time and he did it so well. Cillian Murphy served her role well as the ‘Mark’. I had no complaints with anybody whatsoever except, Michael Caine, who got a little less time.

Hans Zimmer has already worked wonders with the background score perfectly matching that of the visuals. I have been hearing Inception OST for the past week, even before the movie release. And I loved 'Dream is Collapsing', the action driven 'Mombasa' and the penultimate 'Dream within a Dream'. Sadly what I missed hearing was the score from the 3rd Inception trailer with an equal mix of action, thrills and drama. It was not found on the disc. I have been humming these tunes on my way back from the movies and I am sure it will entrance me for months to come.

There's still more I gotta write about this wonderful movie and the experience I went through .Though if I go on, I fear I might let out some spoilers. I guess I have to find another time to go on brag about Inception more. Go on, everybody you are in for the ride of your life time. Just seeing this movie once wont do it or yourself justice. I felt merely assuming the story of this brilliant film will never let you enjoy it...so don't just assume INCEPTION. Let it try and incept the most resilient parasite in your mind.

Let it Play: Me & The Music!

To start off with I love music...be it whatever language that is...though as always I like the movie compositions the most...Modern Rock, Smooth Jazz, Trance and Fusion to accompany.
While at the movies, many of my friends ogle at the SFX and cinematogrpahy and awe at the story...I enjoy the music as well. I mean I'd be like "Dude...the music from Sherlock Holmes' fuckin amazing....especially in that title sequence...did u hear the composition" and they'd be like "Yeah (meh!)...the scene was brilliant" and go on bragging about the lights, story and everything else.
The number of 'let-downs' Iv got from my friends regarding music were innumerable.

I, though remained listening and re-listening and relishing the music from the motion pictures. Imagine watching an action movie without all the music...it'll drain off the thrills, chills and adrenaline rush.

I remember when i was a kid...i used to record theme songs frm TV via my dad's FairMate tape recorder. I used to keep it near the TV speakers and record the theme...with utmost precision and when the cassette is filled with songs. I named in CarTunes...or something. Used to be crazy about theme's from SwatKats, Jonny Quest, Lion King, PocaHontas, Ninja Robots, Quack Pack and all. Cant recollect much...

The Sackdoll!

Another Character sketch done in the past two weeks.

This here is SackDoll. He was Little Johny's favorite toy until The Sackdoll, lost his nerves due to depression and grabbed a butcher knife and killed Little Johny. The Sackdoll chopped Little Johny to little pieces...its jute hand filled with blood, gore, chunks of flesh and other bodily fluids.
I guess I am too depressed....Better stop narrating now!

This has been lingering in my thoughts for sometime.
Innocence - Evil - Murder all woven into one god damn SACKDOLL.
And Guess wot it did now...It KiLLS!

Abducted Wire

Abducted Wire started out as a sketch I did a while back. As always I was always interested in the unexplained stuff like UFOs, Aliens and Abductions...and No...not Anal Probing though.

People told me that it reminded them of Pixar's Birds on a Wire...well now the guys/girls who dont knw are also gonna see it. I dont mind...the comparison. Though this was one of my original concept and sketch.

Do birds usually get abducted? Havent heard before....and even if they did...no one's gonna put up 'Missing Posters' right? So anyway this kinda took a long time for me to the design process...ie from sketch to PSD...not coz I was'nt interested..its coz I had heaps of office work to do and was kinda feeling lazy to do this on top of all that. But I suppose I took about 10 hours in Photoshop CS4 to complete this...and for the first time I did a genuine Line art for this piece. I had so much fun doing Abducted Wire... Different Birds' expressions the one who is abducted is called 'BERD' and there is his wife on his left and his lil son leftmost. Then comes his grumpy brother with not-a-care-in-the-world attitude to his right and his tired old pops rightmost. There u go...u got the casting ha ha.

Story of The 8 Ball Logo

Dunno why I am again deviating from the Cute Creatura designs and doing more logo designs now. Weird Design-Phase rite?
Anyway I was designing some random logo designs based on Yin Yang concepts when I struck upon this design. I loved the 8 Ball...before I knew wot billiards was..I saw it in an episode of Tom & Jerry when was like 5-6 years old or so. I love the design of the 8 Ball...a lack ball with the number '8' painted on a white ellipse...how cool is that. I know people will go "WHADDAFUCK?" with what I said...but still I love the design. As I am a Game enthusiast Id like to promote the logo for a fictional game company by name '8 Ball Games'. So here is the Logo... hope y'all like it. Comments/Suggestions/Criticisms welcome!

Back to Designing!

And I am back to Designing and am exploring the Logo world now!
Its good fun to design logos...and been on a designing spree since then (ie whenever I get time).
My first project was based on an Australian Nursing Services company. Worked on 4 concepts and numerous revisions. Though I loved my first design I am not satisfied with the clients final choice. I tried to convince to choose another one...but the Force wasnt strong with that one so they decided to choose roughest design of all.

The company's name was PNSA Professional Nursing Services Australia.
So as the first design goes I made it look BLUE - so corporate and environmental friendly with that green cross representing health and medical care (as I cant use a RED CROSS).
The second one was something that came outta no where as the client asked to incorporate a golbe with Australia in it.
The third one was a variant of the first one when I was playing with Photoshop and the client asked that he had plans to widen his business more than being in Medical field so he asked not to incorporate anythn related with Medicine and Health.
The fourth is the one the client chose. The Logo was meant to be a banner for their website though the client liked it. Too bad I wasnt able to convince them! The logo according to me just MEH!

I saw a video by Rodriga Rojas showing the 'Batman Icon's Mutation' and I thought I do something for the very first superhero I have known...Superman.
Coz Batman is having all the limelight...and Superman is left with a puny 'Superman Returns'...
I also did a fake magazine cover featuring this art. This is my very first magazine cover design. Hoping to do more.

I Sketched/Scanned and worked on it for about 3.5 hours and looked what he is now!
The Name came from someone I knew too much! And the inspiration also came from the same.

Cute Creatura - Shiro

Here's one more addition to Cute-Creatura.
Well this is Shiro...An adorable Panda....He loves Bamboo leaves (as evident).
I think I might be building a zoo here....lol.
Sketched, Scanned and Designed in Photoshop in about 3 Hours. I feel its kinda rushed though still I love my creation.
I did some research for Japanese names for him. I went for 'Sweet' (Bata), and Snow (Yuri) though Shiro was what I chose. Shiro means 'White' in Japanese.
There were many questions about my character its origins and its name. I kinda liked people asking me this and tried to find answers for them.
One of my friend asked me Panda's are from Japan? Frankly, I didnt think about it during naming him...though later when I googled i came to know that Panda's are from China. Too bad I gave him a Japanese name. But still do I want to name him 'Bái Sè' (White in Cantonese)? Nah! I'll stick with Shiro instead!
Even more doubts came when I put a 'Yataa!' beside him for my deviantID . People asked me why is the Panda saying "Yataa", Is he Japanese? Arent Pandas supposed to be Chinese? OMG I didnt know it was that much a big deal!
Another friend (and a rather cute one at that) asked me do Panda's have bellybuttons? I asked her doesnt every mammal have bellybuttons? Though in Pandas they are not visible with all those fur. She also agreed that some have 'innies' and some have 'outies'.
Nix, my friend told me after seeing the sketch that "He looks too proud of himself"...So I made minor changes to his eyes in the final piece.

I am writing this now to let you all know that I am into kid stuff now. As evident from the recent deviants I have posted...I am designing kid/cute characters. Being an adult now...I still live in a world filled with comics, cartoons and I have left a Lil niche in my mind to like them all.Even when I am enjoying a Rated R movie or playing an M Rated game...I still love to be a kid watching Lambert the Sheepish lion or playing recently released Mini Ninjas. I guess there is a kid in everyone of us. Just have to bring them out at times so as to create/design wonderful art/whatever. Coz in my opinion kids are even more talented than we all are...think of the colors they come up with, think of the patterns they do and all in utter unawareness....just to please themselves...just for their own gratification. That's how all of us should be. Many people say/do that Art is their passion...blah blah blah. Guess what guys...you are lying through your teeth. Watch those Lil kids....you can learn alot!

Baby Ella

Well This is Baby Ella (Bella - though I still like Baby Ella more)...My Second Character following Jasper The Cat's Design. I did her a bit manga-ish and I hope everybody like's her. She's doing her very first act on that ball and she's a bit nervous/tensed/scared. I made a happy Bella and might post later.

Though I didnt make the same mistake twice...while sketching the character itself I made out the scenario, sex and name. Coz I remember what had happened with Jasper. Sketched/Scanned/Designed under 3 hours using Paper/Pen/Photoshop CS4.

The Cat (Who Finally got a Name!)

I decided to design something completely different from my usual stuff. I dunno where/when this character popped up in my mind...though I did a quick sketch/scanned and began working on it ASAP. After it was done this manga-ish cat impressed me so much that I decided to design a few more. I was missing out on a name. I posted the final image on deviantart and asked the few viewers to come up with a name. I have got suggestions for 'Snow-Ball' & 'Pancho' from a lil viewer named Rylies Rain. I liked it though as Snow-Ball was taken for The Simpsons I had to move on. And then came another suggestion from mecuchimex and I liked it alot and I suppose it'd stay for the time being. Well I am gonna call 'HIM'...Jasper! Special thanks to mecuchimex. The background I did for this looked nice and I had got help from deviprasad through trial and error. Welcome Jasper to my world ("When I first held u in my arms...you were so small and cute and wagging ur lil tail against my chin and now look at ya...you have grown up and wow...now you have even got a name!"...LOL Crazy stuff)

A List of my favorite Games!

I have been playing games when I was 10 years old. Those days were days of Video-Games or 'TV Games' as the local electronic vendors called it. Instead of SNES or Sega Entertainment System...they just insulted those systems calling them mere 'TV Games'...think of the pain it'd inflict the makers! Unaware what this little box was called I happily played Mario, Road Fighter, Mortal Kombat etc in these little boxes of addictive madness...and I loved it.

These 'TV Games' were mass produced in different names by the Chinese and imported to India...and most of them was packed with a '999 Games in One' cartridges and a infrared gun for games like Duck Hunt, Wild Wild West etc and 2 gamepads one of which most likely wont work. Though when I was 13 years old I got this brand new 'TV Game'...it included an adapter and a gamepad...and it had a whopping 99 games embedded on its chip. I adored it so much as there were'nt much wires and hassles my mom would shout at me for. I played like 4 to 5 hours non-stop on this fancy little devil, showed it off to my friend and all...What I didnt know was this was another clone of a the SNES re-desinged by the chinese master minds. Though I still has this piece of hardware safely boxed tugged away somewhere in my junkbox accumulating dust.

Wolfenstein 3D:

I am introduced to PC in my 8th standard and I remember the first game I played on the PC was Space Invaders in DOS as well as Dangerous Dave, Chess. Then I moved on to playing B-Men, Zool etc. But I didnt have a PC of my own then and had only meagre amount of time to play. Then one day this guy from the computer institute installed a brand new 'Game'...curious and excited to know what it was...I sneaked onto his PC and found a unidentified, attractive shortcut on the desktop and I fired it up...what opened up was a world filled with so much colors and what really got to me was the 3D world that it had...I mean I was holding the gun, I was walking towards closed doors and when Blascowicz was looking around a corner...I found myself too doin the same. It was called Wolfenstein 3D...and evidently it was the first ever 3D game I played...come to think of it..by that time I'd already started hearing 'fairy-tales' of a brand new game which had PC's creeping on its knees not able to run it....something about the 3rd instalment of an earthQuake game (thats what I thought ha). Well Wolfestein is the grandaddy of all FPSs and I gleefully agree to it. Pity I havnt had the chance to play Spear Of Destiny, the expansion to Wolfenstein 3D.

Quake III Arena:

I bought my first PC when I was in 11th std or so. And the first game I installed on it was a demo of Quake 3 Arena...just to see if it had the balls to run it and obviously it did. I played and with tear-filled eyes I played again and again...ending up in Q3DM17 being my favorite map. There were times I played Q3DM17 a whole day and racked up like 2k+ frags. I learned all the FPS terminology after playing Q3A. Q3A was and still is my favorite game. The smooth graphics and animation with ultra fast gameplay was no-where matched by its then contender...Unreal Tournament.

Batman Arkham Asylum:

Rocksteady and Eidos hit jackpot with this amazing title. Being Rocksteady's first big budget, full fledged title...It bewilders me everytime how did they ever manage to build a game of this detail, this much true to Batman and just as much fun to play. No Batman game ever released can be compared to Batman Arkham Asylum...as much Batman content has been woven into the game. Rocksteady made many new innovations in the gameplay mechanics one of which are the one mouse-click combat...NO! Its not a PnC (Point n Click)...but the mechanics is that much good that you have to play it to believe it. The Graphics is literal NEXT-GEN and the gameplay and atmosphere comes head to head along with an enagaging storyline and brilliant background score Batman Arkham Asylum could be GOTY 2009.

Mini Ninjas:

Its seems Eidos Interactive is on a Killing Streak. Mini Ninja's is developed by IO Interactive...yes the same guys behind Hitman Series. I never thought they could come up with a game this cute and this fun to play. The Cute-factor in this game is top notch...no villain, no enemy is 'un-cute'...leave alone the 5 Protagonists of the game each with their own background story and fighting style. Although Mini Ninjas is aimed at kids I loved playing through it. I stand against the average reveiws Mini Ninjas got...Guys...Its meant for Kids...what more do you want. Kudos to Mini Ninjas...Ni Ni Ni..Ninja!

As I didn't post anything in the blog since June I am posting my works as a bunch over here. Again nothing to brag about...though will keep the description brief so that whoever is viewing my blog has less reading but more of the art.

On The Edge: Few games has inspired me to work on a design twice. I know Mirror's Edge is flawed in some aspects though I love the game so much that I reworked another simple design to add to my fan art. Nothing to brag about just the in-your-face type design. Anybody who has played Mirror's can identify the design with the white walls and the logo. Done on 12 June 2009.

The Beatles: I saw the preview of The Beatles Rockband game and I was impressed by the preview. I did a google on them and stumbled on a famous poster of the Beatles crossing the road. So came up with this idea...and I like what I did. Done on 17 June 2009.

You see the pink soap here. I'll let you figure out which movie I have worked on here. One clue: Tyler! Done on 19 June 2009.

Dark Knight: Need I say more...this was an inspiration I got from another comic artist...though revealing his name will blow my cover. This was completely sketched and painted in Photoshop CS4. Done on 11 August 2009.

Ang: My most adored creation as of date. Worked on it for about 2 days. Had references and worked on the character studying more about him. The background image is shot by one of my friend/colleague (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ifthikhar) and worked on in Photoshop CS4. Finished working on it 20 Aug 2009.

Xenomorph: I recently saw the Alien Quadrilogy once again and I was inspired...though more by H R Giger's Alien concept. Maximum Game: This one I did for sheer pleasure. I loved this game for its jaw dropping graphics, its sandbox gameplay and its FUCKING AMAZING GRAPHICS! Crysis is one of the recent games that jumped into my Fav 25 Gamelist just as soon as I finished it. Done on 18 Aug 2009.

Tree Of Life: Darren Aronofky's The Fountain is one hell of a movie ie ig you get to understand the story. Its part Sci-fi and part fantasy and part drama. Hugh Jackman & Rachel Weisz's performances were so good they deserved an Academy Award or so I feel. One of favorite movies of all time. Finished working on 20 Aug 2009.

A Call Of Duty You'll Die For!

So everybody now, knows the hype that surrounded Infinity Ward's big release this year...Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2. And almost half of the world has already played, enjoyed, criticized and maybe in rare cases - hated the sequel to the biggest phenomenon of 2008.

Well I wasn't impressed with the Call Of Duty series when it debuted in 2003 as I, then, was a Medal Of Honor fan boy. Though I enjoyed playing it, the D-Day sequences from COD never matched the excitement I had while playing Medal OF Honor Allied Assault. And I even felt that COD was more forgiving and played easy to players who are already veterans with FPS games. Medal OF Honor was tough and released way back in 2002 and Steven Spielberg's involvement just makes it that much more interesting. At the time MOHAA, built on the Quake 3 Engine was a graphical marvel...and played SO NOT-like most WWII shooters. EA set a standard for WWII shooters with MOHAA...though the sequels that followed didn’t push the envelope that much.

Surprisingly Call Of Duty comes from the same developers as MOHAA - now called Inifnity Ward. Built on the same Quake 3 engine (Tech 3 engine as id would call it) I never thought Call Of Duty would look that beautiful. I won't criticise COD more as it had a different gameplay style....it had a solid story and plot and playing from different perspectives (US, Brits and Soviets) just made even more exciting. Thus the COD empire began to grow...the sequels began to gush in even earlier than expected. An expansion later (Call Of Duty United Offensive developed by Gray Matter) Call Of Duty 2 followed with another bang...in 2005...and this time Infinity Ward used a heavily modified Tech 3 engine and it showed. The smoke effects were a wonder to behold...and the gameplay and plot stuck reminiscent to COD.

Activision was milking the franchise and not lettin down COD Console fanatics it migrated to consoles as well and Call Of Duty 3 was released on the PS2 and X-Box 360. Developed by Treyarch and pissing of Inifnity Ward as they used 'Call Of Duty 3' as the game's name (Infinity Ward had other intentions for 'Call Of Duty 3'). PC users were unlucky to experience as no ports came by...but still it wasnt much of a big deal as Treyarch stuck with the formula and gave a decent gaming experience not making much changes to COD gameplay styles. Though I should admit that PC gamers definitly missed a numbered title in the COD series neatly stuffed on their shelves. But the real surprise came in as the 4th instalment of COD...and a huge one at that!

Activision and Infinity Ward released the 4th sequel to Call Of Duty in November 2007 entitled Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. This time around Infinity Ward decided to have a modern battlefield stage instead of the usual WWII setting. Modern Warfare was story driven and played from the perpectives of 6 soldiers including the SAS recruit Sergeant "Soap" MacTavish mentored by Captain Price. Well there....these are 2 action hero equivalents from a ultra high budgeted summer movie. Though Capt Price remains an NPC in much of the game except a level in Pripyat...Soap was a real full fledged character. Players including me felt a real connection to Soap and Sergeant Paul Jackson. Action were beefed up with a out-and-out action movie storyline. The levels were laid out perfect especially I was dumbstruck at that nuclear explosion aftershock level...where the player takes his last breath witnessing a holocaust ridden environment. Graphics is what I'd call SWEEEEET! though I didnt find it to be the top. The set pieces were awesome and topped with lotsa action and felt like, us the players, were indeed in an action movie. The loading screens were beautifully rendered cutscene-esque mission briefing which reduced the boredom of gaping at a conventional loading screen. The game ended with a climax that begged for a sequel and I knew this wasn't the last of Modern Warfare...in fact I was sure Infinity Ward had a huge plan for just another series. There was even a bonus level after the credits rolled out...It was another set-piece moment set in an airplane packed with terrorists and you were assigned a hostage rescue mission.

Game Magazines and websites alike praised Modern Warfare, what future shooters should be like. Modern Warfare went on to become the biggest hit of the year.

Before it got released I had watched the previews and wasnt that much impressed and all...though my friend after seeing it was like "dude...modern warfare rocks"....even before it gets released. I didnt get it either....coz he was a fanboy and I wasnt. Nonetheless I played MW and I loved it...I agree it was a highly polished, ultra-entertaining game which glued me to my seats...I was this close to being an Infinity Ward fanboy. Though I had to wait 2 more years when what was inevitable was gonna happen.

Next came Call Of Duty World At War, once again, from Treyarch. Being the 5th in the COD series in returned back to World War II as players could play as British Private Miller and Russian Private Petrenko. The gameplay returned to basic COD but powered by the IW Engine...It felt fresh. The loading screens used amazing visuals and voiced by Gary Oldman and Kiefer Sutherland it felt good. Well...gameplay wise I like the Petrenko campaign more just because it really portrayed the dark and gritty environment around a war-torn world. Call Of Duty World At War did really good and got positive reviews...which I though that was over-rated.

One thing I really liked and a really nice add-on by Treyarch to the game is the Nazi-Killing minigame at the end of CODWAW. After the credits roll out...you are left in an enclosed building with wooden planks over the doors and windows...and wave upon wave of Nazi zombies attack you from all sides...the more you survive, killing and barricades the more weapon options and perks u get. There was even a DLC which included a new Nazi Zombie Map.

The Big Sequel:

The Year is 2009, Almost 2 years have passed after the legendary Call Of duty Modern Warfare...Modern Warfare 2 was announced on February. As the months passed by the hype surrounding the game was so huge than that of a Hollywood movie sequel. Trailers and teasers were downloaded and viewed like a hot new celebrity sex-tape. I couldn't believe the hype that was this huge for a game...and eventually I was also sucked into this hype vortex. I downloaded and watched those teasers and trailers a 100 times.

The release date was announced...November 11th...and in a desperate attempt to backtrack...I installed and played Modern Warfare and I knew what I was missing, the inevitable truth hit me. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was gonna rock and nobody could do anything about it. I saw the first trailer and it was kinda empty a black background with sound waves showing noises of bulltetproof vest zipping, ammo filling, a lift door beeps and opens and nightvision goggles going on...It had a mystery to it and now after playing MW2 I realize how important that was - Whole MW2 revolved around it. I saw the second trailer with Soap McTavish guiding the player through frozen mountain enivronment, packed with a lot of action and a snow mobile race...it got hold of me shaked me even more. Even publisher Activision pushed Singularity, a title which was supposed to release this year, to 2010. Such was the hype. Gametrailers.com gave an award for Call Of Duty MW2 even before it was released as the trailer was downloaded whopping huge times.

People were skeptic about how Modern Warfare 2 was gonna surpass its predecessor. As November came upon us I began counting down days to November 11th. I wasn't this much excited about a game release. And at last November 11th came by, MW2 was released breaking all records, sales went to the roof as gamers literally robbed a shop to get hold of MW2.

Before I went to grab my copy I checked the reviews but without much amazement it all were uber-positive. Relieved, I got my copy and played the game and guess what I didn't stop playing for about a week. Although I finished the game in about 8 hours I played my favorite levels from Mission Select menu again and again. Try to stop me if I go on and on about Modern Warfare 2 or STOP READING...but anybody who has played MW2 will say the same. This is one sequel that has surpassed all that its predecessor was famous for. Lets start with the story. Modern Warfare is still based in a fictional modern world 5 years after the original, with Imran Zakhaev dead and hailed as a War-Hero/martyr and taking over his villainous role is Vladimir Makarov...whose mere description in the mission briefing spells DANGER. MW2 is filled so much exotic locales that taking anyone of it outta your head after you play through it is real difficult for me...atleast for me it was. You start playing as US Army Ranger Pvt Joseph Allen in the war-torn landscape of and Afghan city...the tension builds up as you've got your orders not to fire before the enemies start firing and moving in Humvee watching on prying enemies...once the action starts going there's no stopping. At the end of the level you are recruited by General Sheperd in an undercover operation with Makarov. Yes the same level which was so much controversial...well Yes! It is controversial with what the content depicted in it...but inevitable in the game as the whole game revolves around it. The level starts with Makarov, with a group of his Russian henchmen and you as Allen, gets ready in a lift reloading ammo, zipping bulletproof vests and when the lift door opens up Makarov says "NO RUSSIAN". And then the mayhem starts...Makarov and his men starts firing innocent people at the Zakhaev International Airport...without mecy without leaving anyone of them. I, myself was shocked witnessing this and was in a dilemma whether to shoot or not....seeing people crawling on the floor in a bloody mess. Such is the affect the level has on the gamers. When you start a new game in MW2 it asks whether to skip this particular level as well levels with similar sruff...though I recommend everybody play this to have a full grasp on the story.

Fast forward to another level where we are introduced to our Ol' Friend Captain Soap MacTavish now mentoring Sgt Gary 'Roach' Sanderson on an frozen mountains and landscapes of Kazakhstan. As I said before the level is so polished along with the cold wind blowing on your face and the non-visibility in the snow...everything adds up to a great set piece and top it up with and adrenaline pumping Snow Mobile chase...simply marvelous. Another level which got me at the edge of my seat was 'Hornets Nest' where Soap and Roach must escape an enemy-heavy Rio De Janeiro...its so exotic that you'd gape at the wondrous locale instead of running on rooftops...and the rooftop running was so over the top that it reminded me of Mirror's Edge although with 100 times more adrenaline pumping. There are cinematic shots and action sequences scripted here and there that's a real wonder to behold.
Especially the airplane boneyard and the climactic boat chase was nothing short of stunning, so action packed, so awesome that it had to be an action movie!

But what really got my nerve was that that almost all Game Websites ignored praising was the music. Composed by Hans Zimmer, the music was what drived me on without losing the pace in fact I was so into the music that I began listening to the soundtrack all the time. Its shame to all those game reviews who didnt even mention about the music in their reviews (IGN, Gametrailers, Gamespot). The story is kinda twisted and you have to keep track of it while you are paving your way forward shooting the brains off your enemies and its kinda distracting when Makarov & Price has as a 'chat over the phone' in the Airplane Boneyard level. There'll be a bit of questions in the end when you first finish playing the game but after you've gone through MW2 the second time, I amd sure everything will be answered. Singleplayer campaign is short, you can finish it off in about 6 hours. Though there's still more...IW has added 'Spec Ops', a set of single-player like missions which you can play solo or with a friend. And then there's the mulplayer too. Though I loved MW2 for the single-player...the action sequences, the adrenaline filled races and over-the-top cinematic gameplay. And everything is so polished that you end up disappointed that it ended so soon.Well I am making it a bit short as I dont want to spoil 'everything' with my yapping. I am sure those of you who haven't played the game would want to kill me if they have read it till here...well but still thats more unlikely that if there is a COD Gamer....its impossible he hasnt finished the game as of now.

Well I might add more to this article and mark it with and updation...coz I gotta go play 'Hornets Nest' once again.

Oh btw EA's Medal Of Honor Series went onto sleep under a rock since Modern Warfare...ie after Medal Of Honor Airborne....nothing was to be heard from EA until December 2009...when they announced a new MEDAL OF HONOR with a protagonist awfully similar to Captain Price.

Pleading for Halo 3 on PC!

Bungie's 'Halo' was highly hyped as the game which sold the Microsoft X-Box. I didnt care about it then...coz I am not at al interested in Gaming Consoles....not that I love to play in it...bt coz I dont have one!

I had played Bungie's 'Oni' on my PC and it was a pleasant gaming experience...
Halo when released for the X-Box was considered as the Half-life for PC. Stil I didnt care...I saw the screenshots, I saw the trailer....but still there wasnt an impact on me. It was a year later Halo Combat Evolved was released for the PC by Gearbox. I got my hands on it and began to play which turned out to the THE MOST EXCITING mixture of extreme Action, mind numbing Story and Pure FUN! I knew, then, what was Halo all about. I became a Halo Fanboy! Everytime I heard the Halo theme music..I had goosebumps...everytime I came across Master Chief or Cortana image on the net...I began dreaming of Halo2.

My hopes died when I knew about Microsoft acquiring Bungie and they began releasin X-Box exclusive titles the first one being Halo 2. WTF? I played Halo and was expecting to play Halo 2 but it wasnt there for the PC....Halo 2 became another 'X-Box Seller' and I was expecting these guys to port it to the PC ASAP. After a year or so...Microsoft release Halo 2 for the PC....but only for Windows Vista under their 'Games for Windows' banner..once again I was let down....but stil i didnt lose hope completly...Just to play Halo 2..I installed Vista and began playing...there were alot of issues(the main being Vista was a resource hog)...but still I got through playing Halo 2..successfully. And the Halo 2 climax was a real a real cliffhanger making me (as with all the other Halo fans) dying to play the final chapter in the Halo Trilogy....Dying to.."Finish The Fight!"

Microsoft released X360..their next generation console and I knew we were screwed..there was no way now Microsoft was releasing Halo 3 and X360 exclusive! And I wasnt wrong either..Halo3 was a X360 only title and seeing the trailers..it reallt blew my mind..My hands itched as I drooled over the trailers and gameplay videos of Halo3. The Graphics, the phenomenal music, The Lighting, the action and most of all the Story....I just wanted to get my hands on Halo3 somehow but I can never afford to buy an X360...

So here I am wating for Halo 3 for PC...for about 2 years, checking for rumors about Microsoft's plans to release Halo3 on PC... Even if its released on Vista..I dont care....somehow I want to play Halo3...I am still drooling at the videos, previews and screenshots and I have even signed an online petition to release Halo3 on PC..http://www.petitiononline.com/690735hp/petition.html

Inspired from the Star Wars Design!

I just had a minor brainstorm...I created the 'Tribute To Star Wars' Darth Vader and I thought of creating somethings that I have enjoyed/adored/become-fan-of in the simplest of designs...
This led me to work on couple of other designs following the Star Wars Design....making it as simple yet clear as possible.
I hope to follow this design for some more of my ideas though..who knows I might just stumble upon yet another effective design...

Mirror's Edge is an upcoming first person action-adventure video game being developed by EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE). Mirror's Edge aims to "convey the strain and physical contact with the environment", according to senior producer Owen O'Brien, and to instill a freedom of movement not yet seen in the first-person genre.

Plot Synopsis:

The only playable character in the game is a runner named Faith. Faith was not the intended lead character. The developers ultimately “fell in love with her” among a number of originally planned characters in a multiplayer mode. Art Director Johannes Söderqvist explains that she has “grown a lot through the two years since she was ‘found’” and that her shoes come from a “concept artist having some fun”, “the tattoo on her arm…from her being a tech girl,” as the developers “didn’t want something like the yakuza…I wanted something more unique that would key into who she is as a person. If she was into electronics, she’d have a tattoo that looks like a circuit board.”

The story follows Faith and her struggle to free her sister from a corrupt government. Her parents were killed while protesting against the government and she was forced to grow up on the street. One day, when she was still a young girl, she broke into an office belonging to a man named Mercury, who caught her but was impressed with her skills. Mercury then trained Faith as a runner. Faith was taught not to rely on modern forms of communication, partially because they are monitored by the police state. As Faith attempts to rescue her sister while running messages for the criminal underworld, she gets caught up in a series of events which lead to her being pursued by the totalitarian government. Acting as Faith's guide is Mercury, who will help Faith in her attempt to outwit and overcome the many government agents that are out to eliminate her.

So How's Indian Railway treating their Customers? Or Should I say how badly are they treating Travellers...

Here's a crumble...

Aug 14: Four Guys started from Chennai to Kerala. Its Rush Hour coz the next day is Independence Day and they didnt get their tickets confirmed and was on waiting list 33. As usual an idiot at the Railway Dept told them to get into the reservation compartments in the train and bribe the TTE to atleast get seats...and so they started their journey at about 7.30 PM in the 6201 Mangalore Mail standing in the reservation compartment expecting to see the TTE and bribe him to get the seats. These guys were going to their Native place after a long time as the company they worked didnt hav much holidays.

At about 9 PM the TTE came and didnt ask the guys anythn who wer standing near the toilets to see the TTE personally to ask for the Seats. This was a short, plump, bespectacled and sporting the ugliest beard of all time...He didnt ask them their tickets..instead he just began shouting that whoever hasnt got confirmed seats should get into general compartment at the next station. The Guys jus waited there wo see the TTE when nobody was around. But they couldnt as they didnt see the TTE after that...so they jus stood there..expectin to see him

At about 11 the train reached Kaattpaatti Junction and when the train was about to leave...this TTE came barging in asked for tickets..the guys showed them tickets but she wouldnt budge to hear another word and pushed eveybody out and threw the luggage out and the last guy was beaten in the back and was kicked out...WHILE THE TRAIN WAS ON THE RUN!!!!

Yeah...OK...its illegal to enter into a reserved compartment without a confirmed ticket but its also illegal to kick passengers out of a moving train..think of the dangers!! The Train was picking up speed and the guys tried to get inside the general compartment which was filled beyong limit...3 guys tried to cling on to the bars at the doors but they were pushed out and this other guy ran and got into a first class compartment....he didnt even hav tickets coz the tickets were with the guys at Kaattpatti Junction...he stayed there for about 2 stations or so. Some luggages were left at the 2nd Class Sleeper compartment where the guys had stood before so this guy began goin through boggies to retrieve the luggage and what he saw was illegal to the extreme....

All the TTE's were huddled up behind the 1st Class A/C compartment and were smoking...even the guy who kicked the guys out. The guy politely asked the TTE permission to get his luggage and he retreived it and came back to the 1st class compartment and he stayed there for about 2 stations or so. It was about 12AM when another TTE came and caught this guy and asked him to leave...the guy pleaded to the TTE that he had no choice and no money...the TTE's scolded the guy to get the hell out of his compartment..and to get inside General compartment. At 12AM the guy was once again kicked out at Joliarpett Junction. The guy tried to cling on to the bars of the General compartment but he fell down. Luckily there was another train Chennai-Trivandrum special train in which the 4guys got in and came to Palakkad.

The guys tried to complain about the TTE to the Palakkad Station Master but he just didnt want the guys to write a complaint and warned the guys that if they gave a complaint they'd have to come several more times for legal hearing and all...

One of guy upon reaching Kerala reported this incident to Madhyamam Newspaper...and the news got posted in the Gulf edition of the newspaper.
